This is a promotional film which was distributed free to promotional directors. I came across this film in my local library and had it transferred to video. It was filmed at Six Flags Over Georgia in Atlanta. The film is hosted by John Wade and also features Doug Berringer, promotional director for Duncan. The film begins with John stating that there is a new national contest that's going to happen in every area of the country, the Duncan Yo Yo Olympics. Doug then demonstrates some yo-yo basics, string length, string postion, throwing, the gravity pull, and how to string a yo-yo. You can see that he is using a diamond professional. He also demonstrates the spinner and walk the dog. Then he describes the contest while displaying a contest trick sheet. John states that a permanant staff of certified instructors will help with teaching tricks and judging contests, and that these staffs will be located in each of the regions the contest will take place. Lance is then introduced as one of these instructors. Lance explains the rules of the contest and demonstrates around the world. Doug explains that recreational directors can get a free yo yo olympics kit. The kit is shown, which includes posters, event sheets, entry sheets, 30 trick sheets, a copy of the guidelines, plus stickers for each competitor, and special yo-yos to be given as prizes. Lance performs some tricks required for the city contest, then performs tricks included in the state and regional contests (see list below). Lance then holds a contest and judges kids as they perform various tricks. Only part of the contest is shown. Doug announces the winners and gives them their prizes. The film ends with Doug giving a speech about the popularity of the yo-yo.
