Coney Island Circus Sideshow

This review is based on my visit to the sideshow September of 1999.

First, I have to say I was a little disappointed, not because the show wasn't good, it was, I was just expecting to see lots of freaks. Most of the performers were "freaky", but it wasn't what I had hoped for. I won't go into detail describing the acts. There were ten acts which ran continuously, which included a sword swallower, an escape artist, a snake charmer, and a contortionist, to name a few. If I remember correctly, the entire show lasted around an hour. Some of the acts were very good, some were mediocre, but all were entertaining, except for Koko the Killer Clown (I hope he doesn't kill me after he reads this). Basically, all he did was make some balloon animals (which were very good), while techno music was blasting. Then he told the audience his sad story. That was it (maybe he had a bad day).

One great thing about the sideshow is you're allowed to drink beer, but you have to buy it from them. They don't allow photo taking inside. I'm sure I would have been able to take a few photos of the performers if I had metioned I was doing a review. Next time I'll ask. There are photos on their web site you can check out. Overall it was well worth the money and short train ride to Coney Island. A ride on the Cyclone and some of Nathan's fries made it an afternoon well spent.
